  1. Don't be upset, but the teacher in me strongly disagrees with your statement. An email to a friend, a memo to a buddy, a note to a pal, in short, any informal writing that is meant to be mostly private is the perfect place for being human and making mistakes. However, I firmly believe that if your writing is to be "published" i.e. viewed by an extended audience via a blog or an essay that will be graded by a teacher, the time for mistakes and errors is past and the time for proofreading is at hand. That said, I have the most difficult time catching my own errors and have "published" errors more times than my red face cares to remember. Nonetheless, I almost always catch a misplaced comma or a misused homonym in the writing of others and it inevitably leaves me questioning the writer's overall ideas. That said, I just know I'll press the publish button here only to find I have committed any number of grammatical and spelling errors.
